Thank you for choosing SMD Lighting as your wholesale supplier.

We are committed to providing quality automotive lighting products, electrical components, and accessories at competitive wholesale prices.

As an importer and distributor, we understand that electronic products may occasionally experience defects or performance issues. Our goal is to provide a fair, efficient, and reliable return and warranty process while maintaining the competitive pricing our wholesale customers expect.

Returned products may be evaluated by our quality control and product development teams to help improve product reliability and performance.

This policy applies to purchases made by wholesale distributors, resellers, installers, and other business customers.

1. Wholesale Stock Returns — Unsold Merchandise

SMD Lighting understands that wholesale customers may occasionally need to return unsold inventory.

Eligible standard stock merchandise may be returned according to the following schedule, calculated from the original invoice date.

Time Since Purchase Return Conditions
0–4 months Eligible products may be returned without a restocking fee, for credit to future purchasess
5–10 months Eligible products may be returned for credit based on the current wholesale selling price
11–12 months Eligible products may be returned for credit based on the current wholesale selling price, less an 18% restocking fee
Over 12 months Returns are not accepted

Conditions for stock returns:

  • Products must be unused, uninstalled, and in resalable condition.
  • Products must include their original packaging, accessories, and components.
  • Merchandise must be part of SMD Lighting's regular stocked inventory.
  • Discontinued or obsolete products are not eligible for stock returns.
  • Custom-made and special-order products are not eligible for standard stock returns.
  • All returns require prior approval and a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).
  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

Important: All approved credits for returns after four months are calculated using SMD Lighting's current wholesale selling price at the time of return, rather than the original invoice price, and will not exceed the original amount paid for the merchandise.

Approved credits will be issued to the customer's wholesale account unless otherwise agreed in writing.

2. Product Warranty Coverage

SMD Lighting provides limited warranty coverage on qualifying products against defects in materials and workmanship under normal intended use.

The following warranty periods apply unless otherwise specified on the product invoice or product listing.

Special-order products may be subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms and procedures.

Products not specifically identified as having warranty coverage are sold without an additional voluntary SMD Lighting warranty.

3. Warranty Verification

To process a warranty claim, customers must provide sufficient information to verify the product and its warranty eligibility.

Acceptable documentation may include:

  • Original invoice or order number.
  • Product identification or SKU.
  • Warranty label, date code, or manufacturer identification, where applicable.
  • Description of the product defect.

Certain products contain date-coded labels or color-coded identification systems used to determine production or warranty eligibility.

SMD Lighting may request photographs or additional information before approving a warranty claim.

A missing or damaged label does not automatically invalidate a claim when warranty eligibility can be reasonably verified through other records.

4. Warranty Exclusions

The limited warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by:

  1. Improper installation, wiring, or electrical connections.
  2. Misuse, abuse, accidents, or physical damage.
  3. Unauthorized modification or alteration.
  4. Operation outside the product's intended specifications.

  6. Normal wear and tear.
  7. Products purchased from sources other than SMD Lighting when the claim is made under SMD Lighting's warranty.
  8. Clearance or closeout items are sold as is.No warranty.

Removal or alteration of wiring will not automatically void warranty coverage unless the modification caused or prevents reasonable verification of the claimed failure.

5. Warranty Claim Procedures

All warranty claims require prior authorization from SMD Lighting.

Step 1 — Request an RMA

Contact SMD Lighting customer service and provide your invoice number, product SKU, quantity, and description of the issue.

Step 2 — Receive Authorization

Our team will review your request and provide an RMA number and return instructions when applicable.

Step 3 — Return Merchandise

Clearly identify the RMA number on the return documentation and securely package all authorized products.

Step 4 — Product Inspection

Returned merchandise will be inspected to verify warranty eligibility and the reported defect.

Step 5 — Warranty Resolution

For an approved warranty claim, SMD Lighting may provide a replacement, repair, or account credit, consistent with the applicable warranty and legal requirements.

Unless otherwise agreed, warranty credits are calculated using the current wholesale price, not exceeding the original purchase price.

6. Warranty Return Shipping

As a wholesale distributor, SMD Lighting operates on competitive pricing and streamlined warranty procedures.

Unless otherwise agreed in writing or required by applicable law:

  • Customers are responsible for shipping warranty merchandise to SMD Lighting.
  • Customers are responsible for return shipping costs associated with replacement or repaired merchandise.
  • Customers should use a trackable shipping method.
  • Products must be packaged adequately to prevent transportation damage.

Shipping arrangements may differ where a product was shipped incorrectly or where applicable law requires SMD Lighting to cover shipping costs.

7. Repackaging Fees

Returned stock merchandise must be in a condition suitable for resale.

If the original packaging is damaged, missing labels, or requires replacement, SMD Lighting may charge a reasonable repackaging fee.

Standard repackaging fee: $0.50–$5.00 per item, depending on packaging requirements.

Merchandise that cannot reasonably be restored to resalable condition may be rejected for a standard stock return.

Any applicable fee will be communicated before the return is finalized.

8. Incorrect or Unauthorized Returns

Customers must obtain an RMA before returning merchandise.

Products that were not purchased from SMD Lighting or that were not authorized for return are not eligible for credit.

If unauthorized merchandise is received:

  • The customer will be notified when reasonably identifiable.
  • The merchandise may be returned at the customer's expense.
  • Customers must arrange collection or return shipping within 30 days of notification.

Unclaimed merchandise will be handled in accordance with applicable law. SMD Lighting will not assume ownership or dispose of customer property solely because the collection period has expired.

  • Custom-manufactured products.
  • Special-order merchandise not normally stocked by SMD Lighting.
  • Discontinued or obsolete products.
  • Closeout or final-sale products expressly identified as nonreturnable.

These restrictions do not eliminate applicable manufacturer warranties, valid defect claims, or other rights required by law.

  • Credits may be applied toward future purchases.

  • Customers must provide accurate purchase and product information.
  • Returned products must be packaged securely.
  • SMD Lighting may inspect returned merchandise before approving a credit or replacement.

  • Nothing in this policy excludes or limits rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.

SMD Lighting reserves the right to revise this policy for future transactions. Changes will not retroactively alter the terms applicable to completed purchases.

12. Warranty Claims for Discontinued or Out-of-Stock Products

If a product is discontinued or no longer available in stock but remains within its original warranty period, SMD Lighting will honor approved warranty claims under the following conditions.

For an approved warranty claim, SMD Lighting may offer a replacement product with similar specifications and comparable wholesale value, subject to availability. If a suitable replacement is unavailable, the customer may receive a prorated refund or account credit based on the original purchase price and the unused portion of the warranty period.

Prorated Warranty Calculation:

Prorated Credit = Original Purchase Price × (Remaining Warranty Months ÷ Total Warranty Months)

Example:

A customer purchases an LED product for $120 with a 12-month warranty. After 8 months, the product fails, and SMD Lighting approves the warranty claim. However, the original product has been discontinued and is no longer available.

The customer may be offered:

  • Option 1 – Replacement: A comparable product with similar specifications and wholesale value, subject to availability.
  • Option 2 – Prorated Credit: Since 8 of the 12 warranty months have been used, 4 months remain. The prorated credit would be $40 ($120 × 4 ÷ 12).

Prorated refunds or credits apply only to approved warranty claims for products that cannot be repaired or replaced with the original model. The calculation is based on the remaining warranty period at the time the claim is submitted and will not exceed the original purchase price.
