Usage of a resistor on led headlights and taillights
LED load resistors are designed to solve the issues with aftermarket LED Headlight bulbs to work flawlessly with new vehicles' computers with a self-testing system.
Issue 1: Taillights, Headlights
I’m getting an error on the dashboard when I install my led replacement bulb / or I get suddenly an error after driving the vehicle. why does it happen and what is the solution?
The reason for the issue: led consumes low wattage compared to a standard led bulb which the vehicle computer deducts, a low consumption as a light bulb that is burned or malfunctioned this test happened periodically while you start the car and while you driving, the computer continuously test for errors ( one common issue with led headlights. after a short period 5 to 10 minutes when you start the car the led has higher resistance when the led warm-up to its ideal temperature its adjust its resistance to working condition from pick to a straight line which then triggers the error,)
Solution- to resolve the issue we will need to put a load resistor; a load resistor connects it like making a short.
*WE RECOMMEND TO USE SMD PLUG AND PLAY WIRING KIT
Installer tip-
* Please make sure the load resistor is connected to a metal part it gets extremely hot and may melt any plastic it is in contact with.
* before installing we need to understand if the fuse box for the blinker is on the right side, left side, or all sides. we will decide the amount of resistor based on that.
If it's the left side we might be able to put 1 load resistor (50 WATT / 6 OHMS) on the front or back and resolve the issue for that side. We do not want to overload the system with too many load resistors.
